Strategic Editorial Diagnostic

You have a draft. You're not sure what it needs. This is where you start.

A Strategic Editorial Diagnostic is a one-time clarity session for nonfiction professionals who are too close to their own work to see it clearly.
You'll bring the draft. I'll bring sharp editorial judgment, honest assessment, and a clear picture of what's working, what's risky, and what kind of support, if any, would actually move your writing forward.
This isn't editing. It's the honest conversation that should happen before editing begins.

What You Get

A focused session, live on Zoom or async by email, your choice. A written summary covering strengths, risks, and your realistic options. A personalized next-steps plan. And if editorial work makes sense, an optional project quote, no pressure attached.

Who This Is For

Independent professionals and small business owners preparing something high-stakes, a report, a proposal, a position paper, and not sure if the thinking is landing. Business and government writers who need honest structural feedback before the document goes anywhere it can't come back from. Book-length authors who have a full draft and no clear sense of what it needs next.

If you've been close to this work for a long time, that's exactly why you need someone who isn't.

Priced by document length

  • 1,250 words or fewer: $175

  • 1,251 to 3,750 words: $250

  • 3,751 to 7,500 words: $350

  • Over 7,500 words: $450

Word count confirmed at intake.

No future commitment required.

How This Works

You send your document and a short note about what you're trying to accomplish and who you're writing for. I read it and assess it. We talk, live on Zoom or async by email (your choice). The conversation runs one to two hours for most documents. You leave with a written summary of what's working, what's risky, and what your realistic next steps are.

What This Is Not

This is not a line edit. Not a proofreading pass. Not a sales call. It's a real editorial judgment about where your document is and what it needs next, before any editing begins.
